The Rough Guide to Jamaica

by: Polly Thomas
This book may possibly please the self-righteous, politically-correct backpacking crowd, but for the average tourist this book is a true waste of money. This book goes as far as to suggest that it wouldn't be too bad if the major resort spots get swallowed up by the next hurricane. It also serves as an advertisement for a PC book against resort tourism by one of the authors. This horrible little exercise in travel snobbism does not deserve an audience.

Jamaica

by: Oliver Hill
I browsed a few travel books on Jamaica and found this one to be one of the better ones. It is very clear, concise and has great info. I especially like the accommodations section with detailed contact info (phone number, email, website, etc. the price is always accurate due to seasonal fluctuations) and recommended itinerary tailored to different travelers.

Either way I figured I'd get at least my $5 out of it and so far I have. In fact the couple that is going with us saw it on a table at our house and after looking through it asked where they could get their own copy? (I told them Amazon.
